NBCUniversal Proposes Plan for $125 Million Headquarters in Needham
NBCUniversal—the parent company of NEC member New England Cable News (NECN) — announced plans to build a $125 million regional headquarters facility in Needham, MA.
NBCUniversal announced the plans in a proposal to the town of Needham seeking a 10-year tax-increment financing (TIF) plan. The headquarters will consolidate current operations in Burlington and Newton to house 375 employees at a minimum 165,000 square foot facility, formerly owned by General Dynamics. The TIF proposal outlines a timeframe that would have employees moved into the new headquarters by early 2019. NECN, NBC Boston, Comcast Sports Network, and Telemundo will all operate out of the new facility.
The new headquarters would, “create a media cluster in Needham Crossing to enhance the attraction of other high-tech and technology support businesses,” stated NBCUniversal’s TIF proposal.
The New England Council congratulates NBCUniversal on the announcement of the expanded headquarters and looks forward to taping future episodes of our NECN show, “DC Dialogue,” at the new facility. Read more in The Boston Globe and Boston Business Journal.
