National Grid NE Selects Stephen Woerner as New President
NEC member National Grid has selected former Baltimore Gas and Electric (BGE) Executive Stephen Woerner to lead its New England operations. The former BGE Exec. will assume this new role on October 1st, ending a near decade-long career as BGE’s Chief Operating Officer (COO).
As National Grid New England’s president, Woerner will be responsible for National Grid’s gas and electric operations in Massachusetts and Rhode Island. Along with this role, Woerner will join the National Grid Group Executive Committee. While National Grid is currently in the process of selling it’s Rhode Island branch, known as Narragansett Electric, to PPL Corp, Woerner will continue as the Massachusetts branch president following the sale. He brings with him years of experience, having served as BGE’s vice president of electric transmission and distribution, senior vice president of gas and electric operations and planning, and senior vice president and chief operating officer.
“Steve’s proven track record in operations will help us deliver exceptional service to our customers across New England,” said Badar Khan, President of National Grid US. “We look forward to tapping into his wide range of experience to help lead the clean energy transition for all of our communities, ensuring our gas and electric networks transform to meet customer needs in a net zero future.”
The New England Council congratulates Stephen Woerner and National Grid on their commitment to providing reliable electricity and gas to the New England region.
