National Grid names new U.S. chief executive

New England Council member National Grid has named Dean Seavers, a seasoned executive in the security industry , its next top U.S. executive. Seavers comes to National Grid with experience as CEO of GE Security, also a NEC member.

Seavers will take over for Tim King, who drove success within the company for nearly eight years. King will continue to be a part of the company to ensure a smooth transition. In addition to experience at GE, Seavers has held leadership positions at United Technologies and Tyco. Most recently, he founded and served as the President and CEO of Red Hawk Fire and Security, a company that offers products and services ranging from intrusion alarms to sprinkler systems. He will relocate from Florida, where the company is based, to Massachusetts to join National Grid on December 1.

“I am excited to be joining National Grid at this time,” said Seavers. “We are well-positioned for continued success, with many opportunities ahead to grow the business and drive further performance improvements. We have exceptional talent at National Grid, which is differentiating the company as a leading U.S. energy distributor and innovator with a strong reputation for efficiency, customer service, and integrity. I am looking forward to making a contribution to that success.”

As National Grid’s U.S. president, Seavers will oversee about 15,000 employees throughout Massachusetts, Rhode Island and New York. The New England Council thanks National Grid for their continued commitment to New England and congratulates Seavers on his new position.
