National Grid Announces 2018 Energy Efficiency Community Initiative Participants
On February 6, 2018, NEC member National Grid announced Gloucester, Rockport, Saugus and Wellesley as participants in its 2018 Community Initiative. These participants will receive funding and support to implement energy efficiency outreach in their communities.
Incentive grants of up to $40,000 for Massachusetts communities are part of National Grid’s Community Initiative. Grants are awarded at the end of the year based on the extent to which communities meet the initiative’s goals for implementing energy efficiency outreach in their residential communities and achieving energy savings through energy assessments and residential energy efficiency measures. Throughout the duration of the initiative, National Grid will provide communities with support including sharing monthly progress reports, conducting monthly calls with municipalities to learn best practices, developing and printing customized outreach materials such as brochures and signs, sending campaign materials to customers through e-mail and bill inserts, and providing support for local events .
“The purpose of the Community Initiative is to demonstrate—on a local level—how small changes can add up to help ensure a sustainable future for our families and the communities where we live and work,” said John Isberg, Vice President of Customer Solutions at National Grid. National Grid has awarded more than $547,000 to 21 Massachusetts cities and towns for their energy efficiency efforts as part of the Community Initiative since 2013.
