Several New England Council member organizations were recognized in the recently-announced 2016 Fortune 500 list, which ranks the largest corporations in the United States by total revenue. The 2016 list included 42 NEC members, twenty of whom were listed in the top 100.
Like the Council’s general membership, the members on the Fortune 500 list represent a broad array of industries, including technology, energy, transportation, and financial services. More than two-thirds of the NEC members on the list saw their ranking improve from 2015, and a third of the members improved by double digits. Healthcare company Centene had the biggest improvement of any Council member, jumping 62 spots from #186 last year to #124 this year. Another New England Council member appeared on the list for the first time this year: Citizen’s Bank made its premier on the list at #486 after becoming a fully independent and publicly traded company late last year.
“As we continue to grow the company and improve our performance, we are pleased by this recognition from Fortune,” said Bruce Van Saun, Chairman & CEO, Citizens Financial Group. “This milestone is a testament to the great work being done by Citizens colleagues as we pursue our objective of becoming a top-performing regional bank.”
The New England Council congratulates all of our members on the Fortune 500 list for being recognized as some of the best in business.
