Member Spotlight: Liberty Utilities

Liberty Utilities is an independent water, natural gas and electric company providing local utility management, service and support to small and mid-sized communities across the United States. Liberty Utilities is headquartered in Oakville, Ontario, and is owned by Algonquin Power and Utility Corporation. The company has more than 335,000 customers in Arizona, California, Illinois, Iowa, Missouri, New Hampshire and Texas.

In July 2012, Algonquin Power completed the acquisition of National Grid’s New Hampshire electric and natural gas distribution businesses, known locally as Energy North Natural Gas Inc., and Granite State Electric Company. In NH, Liberty Utilities serves approximately 87,000 natural gas customers and 43,000 electric service customers in 53 communities.

Liberty Utilities has a clearly defined, local approach to utilities management and customer service. For customers in New Hampshire, Liberty Utilities is making plans to open local walk-in customer service centers in the future. The company is  also focused on providing safe and reliable electric and natural gas service, delivering energy efficiency programs, supporting our community and creating jobs.
