As the August 2 deadline to address the national debt ceiling fast approaches, Congress has decided to remain in session during the week of July 18. This week had previously been scheduled as a week for members to attend to constituent matters in their districts.
The New England Council had Congressional Roundtable breakfasts scheduled with several members during this week that must be postponed due to this change in the House schedule. The breakfasts with Rep. Jim McGovern on July 21 in Boston, and Rep Chellie Pingree on July 22 in Portland, will be rescheduled to a later date.
Reps. McGovern and Pingree send their apologies for the change in plans. Stay tuned for more details in the coming weeks, or check the Upcoming Events page of our website.
