MassMutual Enhances Employee Benefits During Boston Expansion
On January 1, 2019, NEC member MassMutual began offering new and improved employee benefits. The enhancements come as the company takes steps to open a new office tower in Boston’s Seaport District that will accommodate 1,000 employees.
MassMutual’s expanded benefits package will include 18 weeks of fully paid leave for birth mothers; three days of paid time each year for volunteering; increased access to fertility, pregnancy, and parenting advice; as well as procedural coverage for transgender employees. These changes to the benefits package are in part a response to new Massachusetts requirements, as well as the tight labor market that MassMutual will be competing in, particularly when its new office tower opens in 2021.
Claudia Coplein, MassMutual’s head of health and wellness, said, “Our enhanced benefits were designed to help our employees and their loved ones, however they may define them, live their best lives – and feel cared for in all phases of their lives – enabling them to achieve their full potential.”
The NEC applauds MassMutual’s efforts to promote the health and wellbeing of its employees, and wishes it the best as it proceeds with its expansion in Boston.
