Massachusetts Fallen Heroes, a New England Council member, is about to give one lucky military couple a day they’ll never forget. The charity is holding a contest for a free dream wedding, open to all engaged active duty service members in the Bay State.
The contest came to fruition after Joanna Kjellman approached Mass Fallen Heroes about offering her Westwood, MA estate for a military wedding, free of charge. After hearing about the idea, many local businesses, including a caterer, florists, DJ, and many more, jumped at the opportunity to create an all-inclusive fairy tale wedding for a deserving couple. Qualifying couples have until Valentine’s Day to enter the contest by submitting a 500 word essay describing their love story.
“It’s just a great idea, and all credit goes to Joanna,” Mass Fallen Heroes project director Chris Lessard told the Boston Globe.
Kjellman said she hopes her idea will inspire others to give back. “I hope this gives other people other ideas. Maybe it’ll be a town or a school that will sponsor something. We owe our service people a lot more than they’re getting.”
The New England Council thanks Mass Fallen Heroes for all they do to give back to those who give all for our country. For more information on the contest and how to enter, click here.
