Maine Credit Union League Supports Local Food Bank
The Maine Credit Union League, a NEC member, recently awarded Good Shepherd Food Bank in Hampden, ME, with $30,000 to support its facility renovation and expansion plans.
The funding was the last installment of Maine Credit Union League’s pledge of $100,000 to support the food bank through its Campaign for Ending Hunger. The funds will be used to expand the food bank’s food distributing and packaging operations to better serve central and northern Maine. Since its inception in 1990, the campaign by Maine Credit Union League has raised over $9.4 million for Good Shepherd Food Bank.
“Thanks to Good Shepherd Food Bank’s Hampden Distribution Center, more Mainers will have access to healthy, nutritious meals,” said Todd Mason, president/CEO of the Maine Credit Union League. “Our credit union network cares deeply about ending hunger in Maine and I am pleased we had a small role in helping this incredibly worthy endeavor come to fruition. I know Good Shepherd Food Bank’s presence in this area will have a lasting impact.”
The Council commends the Maine Credit Union League to supporting the food bank as it works to assist most vulnerable in its community. Read more in The Bangor Daily News.
