Leading Medical Experts Headline Second “Leading in a Crisis” Virtual Event

On May 15, 2020, The New England Council hosted the second installment of its “Leading in a Crisis” virtual event series. “Leading in a Crisis: Medicine” featured a discussion with Dr. Nahid Bhadelia, Associate Professor at the Boston University School of Medicine & Medical Director of Special Pathogens Unit at Boston Medical Center, and Dr. Paul Biddinger, Chief of the Division of Emergency Preparedness & Director of the Center for Disaster Medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital.

In a discussion moderated by NEC President & CEO Jim Brett, Drs. Bhadelia and Biddinger explained how the medical community has worked to treat patients, “flatten the curve,” and develop treatments and a potential vaccine.  They shared how their institutions prepared for the anticipated onslaught of patients infected with the virus, and shared their insights on how long to expect social distancing and face covering guidelines to be in place.
