John Hancock Rewards Customers for Healthy Living

New England Council member John Hancock Insurance recently started a comprehensive wellness program for customers. The program rewards customers for taking steps to build a healthy lifestyle with valuable rewards and discounts.

To develop the plan, John Hancock partnered with Vitality, a global leader specializing in integrating wellness benefits with life insurance policies. John Hancock customers can receive points by tracking their physical activity and doctors’ visits, taking nutrition courses online, and submitting their blood pressure readings. Customers chose what information to share and how to share it, either online or through FitBits provided by the company. The points the customers earn can then be exchanged for rewards and discounts on their premiums.

“We want to make life insurance more immediate and relevant in the daily lives of our policyholders and help them connect their financial well-being to their long-term health,” said Michael Doughty, President, John Hancock Insurance. “The latest advancements in wearable technology are encouraging people to take a more active role in their health, and it’s time we applied these innovations to create ‘smart life insurance’ and recognize and financially reward consumers for their positive actions.”
