John Hancock Names New CEO for Retirement Plan Services
NEC Member John Hancock recently announced that Patrick Murphy has been named the CEO of John Hancock Retirement Plan Services (JHRPS), the U.S. division of Toronto-based Manulife.
Based in Boston, Murphy will replace Peter Gordon who is retiring from the company later this year. In his new position, he will be leading all facets of the company’s U.S. retirement record keeping business. He had joined Hancock when the company acquired New York Life’s RPS business where he had been chief executive officer and had spent 11 years in a variety of roles. Murphy has most recently served as President of JHRPS, and has previously worked at American Express Retirement Plan Services, Transamerica, and Putnam Investments. He earned a B.A. in Organizational Behavior and Management at NEC Member Brown University.
“Patrick has been a critical member of the leadership team for our retirement business since coming on board in 2015. . .He has been instrumental in expanding our solutions across the retirement plan market to service more than 57,000 plans and help more than 2.7 million participants. I’m confident that Patrick’s experience, expertise and commitment will help serve our customers as we continue to grow,” said Mr. Gordon.
