IBM uses Watson to Bring Artificial Intelligence to Consumers
New England Council member IBM is using its Watson technology to bring artificial intelligence to consumers through a number of private partnerships.
IBM recently announced a partnership with General Motors to integrate Watson into OnStar navigation software. The new system, called OnStarGO, will learn about the user over time and will be able to remind them of everyday tasks as it learns about the user’s daily interactions. Watson will also be integrated into Slack, the workplace communications platform. This partnership will allow Slack users to improve employee organization and increase productivity. IBM CEO Virginia Rometty expects the company to continue to add additional partnerships bringing Watson to consumers.
Asked about the future of Watson, Rometty said, “I expect that to be happening through lots of clients. Watson is available as a platform. Anybody could build on it. And there are dozens of things available.”
The New England Council congratulates IBM for using Watson to bring artificial intelligence to more everyday consumers. Read more in the Boston Business Journal and the Wall Street Journal.
