GE Healthcare to open new Marlborough Headquarters

GE Healthcare, a New England Council member, plans to bring their new life sciences headquarters, along with 220 new jobs, to Marlborough, Massachusetts. The Healthcare Life Sciences branch of the General Electric Corporation focuses on providing expertise, tools and solutions for a wide range of applications within the healthcare field.

The new 160,000-square foot space will house laboratories, customer application facilities and office space to complement the existing manufacturing facility in Westborough. Over 500 employees will work at the headquarters, and over 220 new jobs will be created, including lab technicians, biologists, medical doctors, process engineers, and customer service representatives. GE will be joining dozens of other medical device firms in Marlborough, which has been dubbed a center for innovation as inrecent years.

“Today, Massachusetts’ life sciences sectors are the fastest-growing sectors of our economy. We look forward to welcoming the U.S. life sciences headquarters of GE Healthcare and are pleased that the company will create a substantial number of new, STEM-related job opportunities in central Massachusetts,” said Governor Deval Patrick.

The headquarters is expected to open spring 2015. The New England Council commends GE Healthcare Life Sciences and thanks them for their continued dedication to improving the technology of healthcare in New England and around the world.
