GDF Suez’s Distrigas Receives a Top Honor from U.S. Coast Guard
Distrigas of Massachusetts LLC, a subsidiary of New England Council Member GDF SUEZ, has received top honors in the “Large Facility” category of the U.S. Coast Guard’s 2013-2014 Rear Admiral Richard E. Bennis Award for Excellence in Maritime Security.
GDF SUEZ is a leading purchaser and supplier of liquefied natural gas (LNG) to the United States and countries around the world. Its subsidiary Distrigas operates the LNG Import Terminal in Everett, Massachusetts, which currently serves most of the natural gas utilities in New England. The award is given to organizations that demonstrate a true comprehensive culture of security. Specifically, it recognizes outstanding achievements and contributions of the maritime community regarding the implementation of the Maritime Transportation Security Act requirements and other security practices in safeguarding our nation’s maritime transportation system.
“We are honored to receive this award,” said Tony Scaraggi, Vice President of Operations for Distrigas. “A focus on safety and security is not only important to our business, it’s the reason we have remained in operation for the past 42 years and will continue to be a key energy provider to New England well into the future. Our employee culture and corporate goals both support this focus and make our commitment real.”
The New England Council congratulates GDF Suez’s Distrigas on earning this prestigious award and thanks them for remaining a leader in security while providing New England with its essential natural gas supply.
