EPA Administrator speaks to NEC Energy & Environment Committee
Energy & Environment Committee Co-Chair Mark Kalpin of WilmerHale and Administrator Jackson.
On October 6, 2011, members of our Energy & Environment Committee had the unique opportunity to meet with Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Lisa Jackson for an informal discussion of the agency’s work and recent environmental regulations. The purpose of this roundtable was for the Administrator to listen to local businesses, getting feedback on how the Administration can best support their growth. The EPA is also working to ensure that local business leaders are taking advantage of the Administration resources and programs designed to help them create jobs and compete.
Approximately 30 members of the committee and several members of the Board of Directors engaged in a thoughtful discussion with Administrator Jackson over lunch at the Hampshire House. Topics discussed ranged from new emissions rules to shale fracking. Members can read a full summary of the discussion on the Energy & Environment Committee page in the Members Only section of the website.. A special thanks to board member Rick Jenkinson and Thermo Fisher Scientific for sponsoring the luncheon.
On November 18, Energy & Environment Committee members will have an opportunity to meet with another important federal official–FERC Chairman Jon Wellinghoff. For more information on this meeting–which will take place in Washington, DC–email David O’Donnell.
