Emmanuel College Opens New Dorm Tower on Fenway Campus
NEC member Emmanuel College opened its largest building on its campus in the Fenway neighborhood of Boston.. The opening of the 692-bed, 18-story residence hall was aptly timed, as this year Emmanuel also welcomed its largest first-year class in history.
Breaking ground in 2016, the residence hall was built in response to students’ requests for more contemporary apartment-style living and Boston Mayor Marty Walsh’s challenge to urban colleges to work to house more students on campus. With the addition of the new dorm, an additional 20% of Emmanuel’s students live on campus. The celebrations are set to continue until the end of this school year, which will mark Emmanuel’s Centennial in 2019, along with the 40th anniversary of President Sr. Janet Eisner’s inauguration.
Emmanuel’s President Sr. Janet said, “The opening of Emmanuel’s new residence hall marks a significant milestone in the College’s history as we look to our second century. Over the decades, Emmanuel College has adapted to the needs of each generation, and a spirit of innovation has persisted. Emmanuel College today, with this magnificent new building, is thriving and fulfilling the mission of our founders to provide the highest-quality educational experience.”
The NEC congratulates Emmanuel College on this important milestone and looks forward to seeing the college’s continued growth.
