NEC members Iron Mountain and EMC Corporation have teamed up to offer expanded services to both companies’ customers. A press release from Iron Mountain called the decision a “natural alliance.”
Under the new partnership, customers will be able to purchase EMC’s backup appliances with Iron Mountain’s offsite data vaulting. The combination will help customers move data from tape-managed storage to the ‘cloud.’ According to Iron Mountain, this transition will help make disaster recovery easier and more convenient for customers.
“Our collaboration with EMC means companies can protect their data offsite, improve their disaster recovery processes and benefit from the scalability and efficiency that the cloud provides,” said Eileen Sweeney, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Data Management at Iron Mountain. “We look forward to continuing to meet the needs of our customers as they look for new and innovative means to manage their data.”
The New England Council applauds EMC and Iron Mountain for their work to protect customers during this time of increasingly frequent data hacks.
