Deloitte, a New England Council member, and College Bound Dorchester have been recognized by the Boston Business Journal as Corporate Citizenship Partners of the Year. College Bound Dorchester is an organization that helps 16-27 year olds who have dropped out of high school and are disengaged. Deloitte works with them to help gang members get back into school and through college.
Volunteers from Deloitte help the College Bound Dorchester organization by working with kids on everything from resume building to painting schools and landscaping. Academic support from Deloitte has included tutoring and writing help. Every year, Deloitte provides about 25 volunteers who help 50 College Bound Dorchester students. In the five years that Deloitte has partnered with College Bound Dorchester, the matriculation rate of students attending college has increased by 75%.
Deloitte Senior Manager Rebecca Hildebrand stated, “One of the things I really appreciate at Deloitte is how it allows me to get involved in the community. I love College Bound for several reasons, but I really enjoy their mission of wanting to clean a neighborhood from the inside out.”
The New England Council commends Deloitte for their commitment to helping the local community.
