Bridgewater State Announces Scholarship honoring Marathon Bombing Victim

Bridgewater State University (BSU), a NEC member, announced a new scholarship created to honor the youngest victim of the 2013 Boston Marathon Bombing, Martin Richard. The Martin Richard Fellow Scholarship is a four-year $100,000 grant that will be awarded to a graduate of the Neighborhood House Charter School in Dorchester, where Richard was a student.

“This commitment reflects the strong and continuing dedication by Bill and Denise to the Martin Richard Institute for Social Justice at BSU that bears their son’s name,” stated the university’s president, Frederick W. Clark Jr.

The grant is sponsored by Richard’s parents, who graduated from Bridgewater State, and the first scholarship will be awarded for the 2022-23 school year.

The NEC congratulates Bridgewater State University as they work to honor Martin Richard’s memory and promote social justice. Read more in the Boston Globe.
