Boston Children’s Hospital Creates Alliance with Portland Hospital

New England Council member Boston Children’s Hospital has established a new partnership with the Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital at Maine Medical Center in Portland. Boston Children’s Hospital was named the best children’s hospital of 2019 in U.S. News and World Reports.

The alliance will provide access to highly specialized pediatric care to patients throughout Maine. Together, the hospitals will develop standardized care protocols to ensure all patients are receiving the proper care and assistance. The official arrangement builds upon a long-standing professional relationship between the two pediatric hospitals. Through a promise of improved coordination, both hospitals aim to improve the quality of their care for young patients and their families.

Boston’s Children’s Hospital CEO Sandra L. Fenwick believes the alliance “will strengthen the shared commitment of two great institutions to improving access to the highest-quality care, and to improving the patient experience for the patients and families we are looking forward to serving together.”

The Council congratulates both Boston Children’s Hospital and Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital for strengthening the quality of pediatric hospital care across New England.
