Aflac Selected as Administrator for CT State Paid Leave Program
Connecticut Governor Lamont announced recently that the insurance company Aflac, an NEC member, has been selected as the claims relief administrator for the state’s new Paid Family Medical Leave program. In this role, Aflac will accept applications, determine eligibility, and administer benefits for paid leave.
Connecticut’s new family medical leave program, according to Governor Lamont, will support the Governor’s mission to ensure that individuals no longer have to choose between work and caring for themselves and their families. The program allows employees to take up to 12 weeks of leave in a 12-month period for wide-ranging family and medical reasons. The implementation of this program will also have economic benefits to the region; Aflac plans to open new offices in Windsor, CT, bringing with it approximately 150 new jobs.
Speaking about the partnership, Aflac Senior Vice President of Premier Life, Absence and Disability Solutions Scott Beeman said “It is essential that qualified residents of the State of Connecticut receive the benefits to which they are entitled in a timely and efficient manner from a reliable source like Aflac. We are grateful to the State of Connecticut for the trust they have placed in us.”
