Fitchburg State University Eliminates Application Fee
NEC member Fitchburg State University (FSU) has announced that it will no longer charge application fees for undergraduate applications. Applicants have previously been charged $50 to apply to the university.
Applicants who have already paid the application fee will be reimbursed. The move to drop the application fee follows a similar decision by NEC member Worcester Polytechnic Institute to drop their $75 application fee. Both schools’ decisions to eliminate the fees stem from a desire to reduce financial hurdles for prospective students.
“The elimination of the fee removes a financial barrier to students applying to college and is part of our institutional equity initiatives,” said FSU President Richard Lapidus.
The New England Council commends Fitchburg State University for this step towards further institutional equity. Read more here.
