Ameresco Installs New Solar Projects in Rhode Island
NEC member Ameresco, a clean energy company based in Framingham, MA, has recently achieved commercial operation at a solar energy site in Tiverton, RI, as well as mechanical completion at its Cumberland, RI, site. This is a significant step towards advancing renewable energy ventures in the region.
Ameresco’s Tiverton site is expected to reduce costs by $380,000 for the Rhode Island Airport Corporation (RIAC) in its first year alone. The Cumberland site is expected to achieve commercial operation by April 2021, and the company predicts an annual cost savings of approximately $410,000 in the first year. Both solar energy sites further highlight Cumberland and Tiverton’s commitment to “reliable, cost-effective, and environmentally conscious solutions” for clean energy.
David J. Anderson, executive vice president and director at Ameresco, stated, “Our projects in Cumberland and Tiverton are prime examples of the economic and environmental benefits renewable energy solutions offer our customers. By developing and implementing over 10MW of electricity capacity and providing over $790K in annual energy savings, these projects provide a renewable energy source that directly advances the state’s commitment to clean energy expansion within their renewable energy portfolio.”
The New England Council commends Ameresco for their dedication to clean energy initiatives and their vital role in seeking environmentally conscious and energy efficient solutions. Read more from Ameresco’s press release and the Worcester Business Journal.
