The Massachusetts League of Community Health Centers launches loan repayment plans
New England Council member, The Massachusetts League of Community Health Centers (MLCHC), is introducing new opportunities for student loan repayment. The new plans, the MassHealth Behavioral Health Student Loan Repayment Program and the MassHealth Primary Care Student Loan Repayment Program serve to alleviate the financial burdens of educational debt for healthcare professionals entering the field.
“By reducing educational debt, the MA Repay program aims to enhance workforce retention, improve the quality of care, address service gaps in underserved communities, and reduce burnout among providers.” MLCHC wrote in an email to the council. “We believe these programs will provide substantial support to professionals working in eligible settings and address critical staffing shortages.”
The program encourages healthcare professionals to work in a community-based setting that serves 40% of MassHealth or uninsured patients. Eligible candidates must dedicate four years of service to receive benefits from the program.
Awards range from $30,000-$300,000, and multiple medical fields, such as behavioral health professionals, pre-licensed clinicians, psychiatrists, and more, can apply.
The New England Council commends the Massachusetts League of Community Health Centers for these important new loan repayment programs.
