Fitchburg State’s first female President delivers State of the University Address
New England Council member Fitchburg State’s first female president, Donna Hodge, delivered a State of the University address last Wednesday. Hodge highlighted Fitchburg State’s plans for enrollment and demographics.
Hodge, who spoke to a group of students, faculty, and staff during her speech, discussed her plans to make Fitchburg State a Hispanic-serving institution.
“…About 16% of our institution is Hispanic,” said Hodge. “What is important about that to note is that 58% of K-12 students in the region surrounding Fitchburg State are identified as Hispanic, which suggests to me that there is more we can do to support those students around us.”
The new president also mentioned her continued efforts in economic transparency and plans for Fitchburg State to attract students from nearby towns to enroll in the university.
“This fall, we will be opening an admissions center at Fitchburg High School—an exciting first step in our mission to recruit and serve students and families right here in Fitchburg,” said Hodge in her speech. “This partnership embodies our commitment to being the university of choice for our local community.”
The New England Council congratulates Donna Hodge on this new position.
