Ameresco, Inc. to install new battery system in Colorado
New England Council member, Ameresco, Inc., has signed a 20-year contract with Colorado electric cooperative United Power to install a state-of-the-art battery system.
The installation will allow United Power to efficiently store and transmit power during periods of high demand. Slated to begin service in 2024, the Colorado contract is just the most recent in a series of innovative power storage systems designed by the clean energy firm, following previous accomplishments in California and Ontario. Once completed, Ameresco anticipates this technology will further strengthen the utility’s power grid and establish a dependable supply for their customers.
“We are thrilled to partner with United Power on this transformational battery storage project,” said Jon Mancini, Ameresco Senior Vice President of Solar Project Development. “The inclusion of this expansive asset in Ameresco’s portfolio further underscores the global need for energy storage to bolster clean and sustainable power sources. Energy storage plays a crucial role in enhancing grid reliability, optimizing renewable energy utilization, and fostering a resilient and efficient energy future.”
The New England Council commends Ameresco for its commitment to energy efficiency.
