Curry College appoints Jay Gonzalez as president
New England Council member, Curry College, appointed Jay Gonzalez as the first Hispanic president with a unanimous board vote. Gonzalez, a former partner at Hinckley Allen and the Democratic nominee for Massachusetts governor in 2018, aims to leverage his diverse career experiences to meet the college’s needs.
Gonzalez believes that leading in higher education shares similarities with government, requiring inclusive and collaborative decision-making. While smaller liberal arts schools face challenges, Gonzalez is confident in Curry’s long and rich history and believes they can chart a sustainable path forward without merging or being acquired. He is excited about the mission-driven nature of the job and its potential to transform students’ lives.
“I love the mission of it, and the meaningful impact it has on people’s lives, how it can be transformative for students and helping them position themselves to pursue their dreams and be successful in their careers and life,” he said.
The New England Council would like to congratulate Jay Gonzalez on this new role.
