Tufts announces new Dean of Friedman School of Nutrition
New England Council member, Tufts University, has named Christina Economos as the new dean of its graduate school of nutrition, aiming to expand the school’s influence in addressing food and nutrition issues. Economos, currently serving as interim dean, is a renowned researcher in community-based obesity prevention.
Economos plans to execute her vision for the Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy, leveraging its interdisciplinary approach to tackle large-scale problems like climate change, hunger, and chronic disease. Additionally, she aims to make the school’s educational programs more accessible and is actively involved in addressing childhood obesity through her work with ChildObesity180.
“At the Friedman School, our highly accomplished faculty conduct excellent research and we pride ourselves on training future leaders and having an impact on society. In order to continue building on those unique strengths, we’re going to undertake an innovative growth and sustainability strategy for the school,” said Economos in an interview.
