URI Announces New Center for Computational Research
On January 23, New England Council member, the University of Rhode Island, will be launching a new center for computational science and research. This center hopes to expand the university’s capabilities and ensure it remains at the forefront of interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary research.
The University of Rhode Island is committed to establishing the university as an active center of excellence in computational-focused disciplines, with this new center doing exactly that. Not only will this center highlight computational research, but it will also be a focal point for all disciplines in science and engineering. With this technology, URI is projected to undertake fields such as climate modeling, weather prediction, engine design, and astrophysics. One of the main goals of this new center is to open collaborations with other organizations, allowing for increased employment and scientific advancements.
Gaurav Khanna, a physics Professor at the university and the founder of this new center, believes that the opening of this center “represents the next step in the evolution of research computing at URI.”
The New England Council commends the University of Rhode Island for its commitment to scientific education and advancements.
