New England Council Calls on Congress to Pass CHIPS Funding
The New England Council is urging the region’s Senate delegation to support legislation that would provide $54.2 billion in funding to bolster domestic semiconductor manufacturing. The Council today wrote to the twelve New England Senators, encouraging them to vote in support of the legislation that is expected to be on the Senate floor as early as this week.
While the Council had previously supported a more comprehensive package that would make a variety of investments in U.S. innovation and competitiveness, the Council noted in its letter to Senators that the current ship shortage has widespread economic and national security ramifications, and must be addressed immediately.
